only in england

Sometimes, desperate for celebrity gossip, I read Hello! magazine.

In the latest issue, tucked between stories on Prince Edward and Britney Spears, there is a 5-page spread on the Royal Horticulture Society’s 2009 Chelsea Flower Show– dubbed “The ultimate event in the gardening calendar”. Apparently an event where the who’s who can see and be seen, it featured photos of Helen Mirren, Rod Stewart, Sienna Miller, Helena Bonham Carter, Bill Nighy and Ringo Starr.

I just want to make sure you understand what I am talking about. This is an event where people look at flowers and plants and also buy them and take in “the latest gardening trends”. I don’t know what else to say.

  1. Whew – I guess I’m still English! I’d LOVE to go to the Chelsea Flower Show – or the one at Hampton Court, which we narrowly missed in 1997, or any one of the many other flower shows in the UK, even though they wouldn’t help me one bit with my gardening in New England.
