Bryan’s dad and stepmom arrive this morning for a visit. It marks the beginning of our 10 visitors in the next 3 months. I know what you’re thinking- But Yael, you’re going to be in the second and third trimesters of your first pregnancy. And you only have one bathroom! Look, don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it. We love visitors. It is remarkable how different it is to spend quality time 24/7 with someone than to see them for years and years in sporadic 2-hour increments. I recommend both.

We are working on perfecting hosting. So far, here are my tips for anyone that attempts the above in London:

  • Need a cleaning person
  • Prepare breakfast and a made bed for anyone coming off an international redeye
  • Subscribe to Time Out magazine
  • Invest in extra mobile (cell) phone
  • Lots of toilet paper
  • Speak to G-d about the weather
  • Remember to wear non-see through pajamas
  • A book of matches in the bathroom
  • A warning to impending guests that London has no 24-hour food options
  • 2 controllers for xbox
  • Kronenbourg in the fridge
  • Lots of dried mangoes

Oh and update for everyone. It is Sande and Mary’s first time ever in Europe… so what did god deliver? A cab strike disrupting traffic and rain. It’s actually too perfect.

Mangoes are for everyone. A gift to the world. Unless you’re allergic to them.

hope everyone is having fun…………Yael and Bry truly are the best hosts.

  4. The spare ‘pay-as-you-go’ cell phone is the best tho… I give mine to all my visitors and they suddenly take it upon themselves to dictate what they want to see instead of waiting for me to play tour guide!
